The Carburized C20 Rod features a case-hardened surface of 58–64 HRC (effective depth 0.5–2.0 mm) with a tough low-carbon core (≤170 HB). Available in φ6–300 mm, up to 8000 mm long, it meets ISO f7 tolerance with a precision ground finish. Its “hard case, tough core” structure provides excellent wear and impact resistance for medium/low-pressure hydraulic cylinders and general industrial equipment. Full customization of dimensions, case depth and additional surface treatments is supported.

PAZON
The Carburized C20 Rod is precision-machined from premium C20 (20# / AISI 1020) low-carbon steel in a non-heat-treated core condition and treated with a carburizing + hardening + low-temperature tempering process, followed by precision grinding. The C20 low-carbon core retains excellent toughness, while carburizing creates a high-carbon hardened case on the surface. After quenching, the surface achieves high hardness, while the core remains soft and ductile. This “hard case, tough core” structure makes it ideal for medium/low-pressure hydraulic cylinders, guide shafts, agricultural machinery components and general industrial equipment subjected to surface wear and impact loading—an economical and practical wear-resistant rod solution. Additional chrome plating after carburizing is also available upon request to further enhance surface performance.
Diameter: Mainly φ6–300 mm, larger custom sizes accepted
Length: ≤8000 mm, custom lengths available
Straightness: ≤0.2 mm/M
Tolerance Grades: IT6–IT9
OD Tolerance: According to ISO f7/f8/g6/h7/h8/h9; customized tolerances available upon request
Ovality: Half of the tolerance value ISO f7
Core Condition & Hardness: Non-heat-treated (as-rolled/cold-drawn), core hardness ≤170 HB
Surface Hardening Treatment: Carburizing + Hardening + Low-temperature Tempering
Effective Case Depth: 0.5–2.0 mm (adjustable, hardness limit 550 HV1)
Surface Hardness: 58–64 HRC (after carburizing and hardening)
Surface Treatment: Ground finish (chrome plating available upon request; optional: EN Plating / Zinc Plating / QPQ / Thermal Spraying / Ceramic Coating)
Surface Roughness: Ra≤0.2 μm, Rt≤2 μm (after grinding)
Corrosion Resistance: Moderate in ground condition; additional chrome plating or QPQ recommended for high corrosion resistance
Weldability: Poor (the high-carbon carburized case significantly impairs weldability; the carburized layer should be mechanically removed before welding, with strict preheating and post-weld heat treatment)
Packing: Anti-rust oil + cardboard tube/plastic sleeve + wooden case
Hard case + tough core gradient structure: carburized surface at 58–64 HRC with a tough low-carbon core for excellent impact resistance
Adjustable case depth: effective carburized depth 0.5–2.0 mm, customizable to match wear allowance requirements
Economical and practical: low-cost C20 base material and mature carburizing process for controlled overall manufacturing costs
Excellent surface wear resistance: high-carbon hardened case provides outstanding wear and scratch resistance
Good dimensional stability: precision ground after carburizing to ensure tight tolerances and surface finish
Compatible with additional surface treatments: chrome plating or QPQ can be added after carburizing for enhanced corrosion and friction properties
Good pre-treatment machinability: C20 low-carbon steel machines easily before carburizing, ideal for volume production
In addition to standard carburized specifications, we offer:
Custom diameters and lengths, including extra-long or oversized rods
Tolerance grades and non-standard OD tolerances
Higher straightness upon request
Tailored effective case depth
Quenched & Tempered core for increased mechanical strength
Additional surface treatments: hard chrome plating, electroless nickel, zinc plating, QPQ, thermal spray, ceramic coating
Selective carburizing or anti-carburizing protection
Dedicated packing and anti-corrosion solutions
