This clamping cylinder is a critical actuator for the manipulator in open-die forging press lines. Mounted at the front of the manipulator's tong rod or within the clamp head mechanism, it extends and retracts its piston rod to close or open the jaws, securely gripping the hot steel ingot or billet on the anvil. A high-thrust double-acting piston design delivers up to 9,621 kN of clamping force. With wide bronze guide bushings, a V-pack sealing system, built-in displacement sensors, and super-nut locking, it provides absolutely reliable, leak-free, high-response clamping performance under the continuous heat radiation, intense hammer vibration, and frequent cycling of forging operations, significantly improving both forging rhythm and operational safety.

Massive Clamping Force & High Holding
The barrel is forged from high-yield quenched and tempered alloy steel. A large-diameter thick-walled piston rod working with wide bronze guide bushings produces up to 9,621 kN of constant pressure on the hot ingot, preventing jaw release or billet slip even under the repeated pounding of forging hammers, ensuring personnel and equipment safety.
High Side-Load Resistance & Long-Life Guidance
Precise clearance control between the cylinder bore, bronze bush, and piston rod absorbs the high radial forces generated by workpiece eccentricity and vibration, preventing rod scoring and uneven guide wear, and maintaining accurate linear motion even after hundreds of thousands of cycles.
V-Pack Sealing, Long-Life & Easy Maintenance
A multi-layer V-ring polyurethane/fabric composite seal assembly with replaceable shims automatically compensates for compression set under sustained high temperature, high pressure, and vibration, maintaining zero external leakage. Seal replacement requires only gland removal, greatly reducing downtime.
Built-in Displacement Sensor, Precision Control
An internally integrated magnetostrictive displacement sensor (±0.05 mm repeatability) provides real-time jaw opening feedback to the press master controller. Working with servo valves, it enables precise closed-loop clamping force control, preventing over-clamping damage or loose gripping.
Super-Nut Locking for Vibration Resistance
All tie-rod and side-cylinder fasteners employ mechanical super-nuts that maintain a constant preload under the extreme vibration of forging hammers, completely eliminating the risk of hydraulic leakage or jaw misalignment caused by bolt loosening.
Flexible Options: Booster Cylinder & Rotary Union
An optional integrated booster cylinder allows the same clamping force to be obtained with a much smaller bore and lower system pressure, reducing cost. An optional high-pressure rotary union provides leak-free rotational freedom for piping, optimizing equipment layout.
Internal Cushioning & Noise Reduction
Progressive end-of-stroke cushions inside the cylinder automatically decelerate the piston and absorb impact energy, lowering noise and protecting both the jaw mechanism and the cylinder itself.
Precision Manufacturing & Maintenance-Free Pivots
Critical components are precision CNC-machined to micron-level form tolerances. All pivot points feature self-lubricating bearings, eliminating the need for grease and ensuring long wear life even at extremely high cycling rates.
