This grab cylinder is the core actuator of portal cranes, bridge-type grab ship unloaders, and bulk cargo grabs. Mounted between the grab arms and shells, it hydraulically extends and retracts to open and close the grab shells, enabling rapid handling of bulk materials such as coal, ore, and grain. A long-stroke double-acting design (stroke up to 1,390 mm) delivers powerful and stable motion. Combined with a high-strength alloy steel barrel, a precision hard-chrome plated piston rod, multi-stage combination seals, and bidirectional cushioning, it provides long-term, reliable, leak-free operation under the harsh conditions of port salt spray, heavy dust, frequent impact, and all-weather service — a key component for ensuring the efficiency of port bulk material handling.

Long-Stroke High-Thrust Design
The barrel is forged from high-yield-ratio quenched and tempered alloy steel, with welds UT/MT inspected. The piston rod is precision hard-chrome plated (HV900–1100), maintaining excellent bending stiffness at the full 1,390 mm extension for smooth and powerful shell movement.
High Side-Load Resistance & Guidance
Wide-profile bronze or composite guide rings in the bore effectively absorb radial forces from uneven loading and material impact, preventing rod scoring.
Multi-Stage Seals & Salt Spray Protection
A metal scraper ring and multiple heavy-duty wipers at the gland block coal dust, mineral dust, and seawater spray. The main seal is a hydrolysis-resistant polyurethane/filled-PTFE composite, guaranteeing zero external leakage in the high-salt-spray, all-weather port environment.
Internal Cushioning for Noise Reduction
Progressive cushions at both ends decelerate the grab at end positions, eliminating impact noise and protecting the shell hinges and cylinder.
Compact & Maintenance-Free
Mounting dimensions suit the compact space of the grab arm. Self-lubricating composite bushings in the clevises eliminate daily greasing and provide long service life under high-frequency operation.
Optional Position Monitoring
A built-in displacement sensor can provide real-time grab opening feedback for precise loading/unloading control.
