This rotation cylinder is the core actuator of the boom rotation system in drilling jumbos, mounted between the boom base and the slewing platform. It extends and retracts its piston rod, and through a rack-and-pinion or linkage mechanism converts the linear motion into rotary motion, smoothly rotating the entire boom around the vertical or horizontal axis for precise positioning of blast holes across the full tunnel face. Covering a full bore range from 63 mm to 200 mm, with strokes up to 3,000 mm and thrust up to 942 kN, it meets the driving force requirements of both medium and heavy drilling jumbos. Combined with a high-strength alloy steel barrel, a precision hard-chrome plated piston rod, multi-stage combination seals, and bidirectional cushioning, it provides stable, precise, leak-free rotary drive under the severe conditions of underground high dust, intense vibration, and frequent rotation — a key component for ensuring efficient drilling coverage.

Wide Standardized Range
The full bore range from 63 mm to 200 mm provides thrust from 93 kN to 942 kN, meeting the boom rotation requirements of both medium and heavy drilling jumbos. Standardized interfaces facilitate OEM batch procurement and rapid replacement.
Heavy-Duty Anti-Vibration Construction
The barrel is forged from high-yield-ratio quenched and tempered alloy steel, with welds UT/MT inspected and end caps FEA-optimized. The piston rod is a large-diameter thick-walled rod, precision hard-chrome plated (HV900–1100), maintaining exceptional structural integrity under intense underground vibration and eccentric rotation loads. Fatigue life exceeds 1 million full-load cycles.
High Side-Load Resistance & Guidance
Wide-profile bronze or composite guide rings embedded in the bore, with precision clearance control, effectively absorb radial forces from fully-extended boom offset loads and drilling recoil, preventing rod scoring and ensuring long-term smooth rotation.
Multi-Stage Seals & Dust Protection
A metal scraper ring and multiple heavy-duty wipers at the gland effectively block rock dust, cuttings, and underground moisture. The main seal is a hydrolysis-resistant polyurethane and filled-PTFE composite, guaranteeing zero external leakage under high-pressure, high-frequency, and rock dust conditions.
Internal Cushioning for Noise Reduction
Progressive cushioning devices at both piston ends automatically decelerate and absorb impact energy at the rotation limits, eliminating rigid impacts, reducing noise, and protecting the rotation mechanism and the cylinder itself.
Compact & Maintenance-Free
The optimized envelope and mounting dimensions fit the compact slewing platform space of drilling jumbos. Self-lubricating composite bushings at all pivot points eliminate daily greasing and provide long service life under high-frequency rotation and harsh underground conditions.
Optional Smart Monitoring
A built-in displacement sensor can be integrated to provide real-time rotation angle feedback, supporting automated drilling positioning and anti-collision warning via the jumbo's electronic control system.
Special bore, rod, and stroke
Built-in displacement sensor for closed-loop rotation angle control
Full stainless steel body and piston rod (highly corrosive environments)
Explosion-proof / mining certifications
