This traverse cylinder is a lateral drive element for auxiliary devices on large railway maintenance machines, mounted on the traverse slide of auxiliary clamps, ballast plates, or guide panels. During operation, it hydraulically extends or retracts its piston rod to shift the working attachment horizontally left or right, achieving precise lateral positioning or retracting the device to a safe distance from the rail when not in use. A medium-to-long-stroke double-acting design (545 mm stroke) delivers 56 kN of thrust and 37.7 kN of pull at 18 MPa. Combined with a high-strength alloy steel barrel, a precision hard-chrome plated piston rod, multi-stage dust-proof seals, and bidirectional cushioning, it provides stable, stick-slip-free, leak-free lateral movement under heavy vibration, flying ballast, and all-weather outdoor operation.

The barrel is high-yield-ratio quenched and tempered alloy steel; the piston rod is precision hard-chrome plated (HV900–1100), providing smooth lateral displacement under the attachment weight and ballast reaction forces for accurate positioning.
High Side-Load Resistance & Guidance
Wide-profile bronze or composite guide rings in the bore effectively absorb radial forces under eccentric loads and vibration, preventing rod scoring and ensuring long-term smooth operation.
Multi-Stage Seals & Dust Protection
A metal scraper ring and multiple heavy-duty wipers at the gland block ballast dust, stone chips, and water. The main seal is a hydrolysis-resistant polyurethane/filled-PTFE composite for zero leakage in all-weather service.
Internal Cushioning for Noise Reduction
Progressive cushions at both ends decelerate the cylinder at end positions, eliminating impact noise and protecting the traverse mechanism and cylinder.
Compact & Maintenance-Free
Mounting dimensions suit the compact space of the traverse slide. Self-lubricating composite bushings in the clevises eliminate daily greasing and provide long service life under high-frequency operation.
