TSHD Hanger Cylinder
This hanger cylinder is the core deployment actuator for the suction tube system on trailing suction hopper dredgers (TSHD). Mounted between the vessel’s gantry and the suction tube frame, it extends and retracts the hanger, indirectly controlling the depth of the trailing draghead and suction pipe into the water for digging, or lifting them clear for sailing. During dredging, the cylinder must steadily withstand massive tensile forces to keep the draghead firmly on the seabed while the vessel rolls, pitches, and pitches in waves. When the gear is stowed, it must lock securely to prevent accidental deployment. Featuring a high-tensile, long-stroke design, an integrated wave-compensation accumulator interface, counterbalance valve, and specialized watertight sealing, it operates maintenance-free for extended periods in the deep-sea, high salt-spray, and high-vibration environment.
